If you walked into our Battambang Program Office last week, you would have found it unusually quiet. But that silence was a good sign. It meant our team was exactly where they needed to be, out in the field, serving our community.
Our Social Worker, Sopheak, and Midwife, Malina, hit the road to visit three women, including two new mothers and one new entrant to our program.
We are thrilled to report that all the mothers and babies are healthy! During these visits, the team provided essential baby baskets and food supplies. However, our support goes beyond material goods. Malina provided crucial guidance on reproductive health and family planning to ensure these mothers have the knowledge they need for the future.
In a display of community effort, Malina and Social Worker Chandy. teamed up with local authorities, specifically the Commune Committee for Women and Children (CCWC) and the District Deputy Director of the Social Affairs Office.
Together, they visited three families to conduct holistic needs assements. These visits weren't just about immediate relief. They focused on long-term sustainability. The team consulted on sustainable chicken-raising projects and discussed ongoing health concerns, while also distributing rice and monthly food supplies to ensure immediate food security.
It takes a village to support a mother. We want to give a special shoutout to Bong Sopheap, our tuk-tuk driver, who facilitated a vital pickup. Thanks to our friends at Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation, Bong Sopheap was able to transport milk supplies to a mother facing significant health and financial challenges. Whether it is a can of milk, a bag or rice, or a listening ear, our Battambang team is proving that we are always here for our community.
