Hello, 2026! Our teams in Phnom Penh and Battambang province have started the year at full speed. We are making sure that mothers and their children who are going through hard times are safe and not forgotten.
Last week in Battambang province, Mother's Heart joined the Provincial Department of Social Affairs (PoSAVY) and 17 partner organisations for a critical coordination meeting. Our goal was to review the current situation at displacement sites along the border and ensure that no family falls through the cracks. In times of crisis, partnership is our greatest strength.
Following the meeting, our team visited two displacement sites to provide direct relieft. We distributed essential hygiene kits specifically for women and girls and organised games and activities for the children to help them smile and have some fun during a very stressful time.
We are very thankful that the border is quieter now. Many families have already gone back to their villages. However, some are still staying in the displacement sites because their homes are still in danger zones.
For the families returning home, life is still very hard: Economic disruption: Many have not been able to work or tend to their crops for weeks. Loss of livelihoods: Beyond personal belongings, many families have faced the devastating loss of their farms and livestock, which are the primary sources of food and income. Emotional strain: Beyond the physical needs, there is a deep anxiety about how to retart their lives and what the future holds.
As we continue our work this year, our focus remains on the "whole family". We aren't just helping mothers; we are helping the entire family units to stabilise and heal. We are so grateful that you are still with us. Togehter with the local leaders and our partners, we are helping these brave families get back on their feet. Thank you for walking this journey with us in 2026.
